NEO Cheer Compitition 08

Medina High School hosted a cheerleading competition for all the high schools in the Northeast Ohio Conference. This was a very cool event. I can honestly say, I don’t recall our cheerleaders doing this kind of jumping and flipping when I was in school 20 years ago. It was like gymnastics without the bars. The ladies looked like they had a great time and all did a great job. We will have images posted soon on our recent events sight. It will be named Cheer Event and the password will be … password in case you were there and did not get a card.

Frazier Wedding

Hi All,
I just finished saving my wedding to disk for the night and getting ready to hit the hay but I wanted to post an image before I did.
It was a great day today. My buddy and longtime friend in the wedding business was married today. Brandon Frazier of Midnight Music DJ service. Brandon was wed to Jessica Hudson of the Skyview Lodge (her family's business). The day was wonderful and they had perfect weather for a Sweetest Day Wedding. Best of luck in a long and happy life together guys..
I also had the opportunity to work with a few people I was really pleased with. Terri Krul of TK Video Productions (http://www.tkvideo.net/) and Rev. Richard Kresila of Elyria Wedding Ministry. (http://www.elyiaweddingminister.com/) and of course the good folks of Rosewood Carriage Service in Litchfield. They all did a great job and were a pleasure to work with today.
Well my CD is done so off to bed. Chat soon! - Bob

Shockey Family
Meet the Shockey family! These guys were a lot of fun even if we did get soaked taking the family photograph. We had been rained out three times this summer trying to get this picture. Then we had a church camp and the little guy had scratched his face on two other trys. Our appointment in Akron was at 5:30 on a Tuesday night and as I left Medina I saw the rain clouds moving in. I was at the location 30 minutes early and luckily the family was too. We hurried up and took a group of just the kids and then had them change for the family group. We only got a few images taken before the sky opened wide. (Right at 5:30) We all were completely soaked to the bone but before it happened we got this image. Not bad for racing against the Clock and Mother Nature. These were some of the nicest kids as well. We had fun even in the rain. It is good to see we still have strong families that love each other and can make lemonade when handed a basket of lemons.Did you notice the Christmas Card? Yep it is that time already. Has it been a while since you had a nice family portrait? If so, give me a call. This time of year we get really busy. If you get the voicemail please leave a message. 330-591-4243. I have many very affordable family packages to
choose from.

Dan & Karen Bors
A Great Day For A Wedding - Just saving todays work and thought I would post one of the images from Dan and Karen's wedding. This one was another fun one. It was kind of like a class reunion as they are a few years younger than me but most of the guests I was in high school with and had photographed some 20 years ago for the Medina High School yearbook and newspaper. It was a fun day indeed.Friday, September 19, 2008
Lance & Company - Medina
Last week I received a call from Lance & Co. Insurance. They were looking to update their Website and when going through the photographs of staff members realized some had professional images but most were "Snap Shots" up against the wall, poorly lit and even had shadows behind their heads. I gave them a quote and set up a time I could come to the office to photograph the entire team with little interruption to their day. We had everyone photographed in just over 30 minutes and I delivered the images the next day.In business, your image is your personal logo. Looking your very best and presenting the best image might be the difference from a shopper, or a sale. Publicity portraits are very affordable and can make all the difference to your printed mailings and website.
All publicity images are provided on Compact Disk "CD" in full resolution, Black & White, and set to 72dpi for web use. With these images you can go from the websites to a billboards if you like. Jared Pickrell Aug 29th 2008 - US Marine
This is one of my nephews Jared Pickrell. My wife Kim just returned home from South Carolina helping her sister's family pick him up after Boot Camp Graduation. I'm so proud of Jared and his older brother Austin (Air force ROTC at Ohio State)Jared was my ring dude at my wedding 15 years ago and now he is a MARINE.... His Family had a nice reception for him on Labor Day and he heads back out for more training next week. Both Jared and Austin are Eagle Scouts, and will be protecting our rights, and protecting our flag and what it stands for as Americans. Safe wishes to them both, I'm a proud Uncle...

I thought this portrait was lost forever.
You guessed it, the kid on the log is me.
My father took this as one of, if not the very first portrait at Contemporary Photography Studio's then new location in Medina on North Court in 1974. The log came from a tree that was removed in order to expand the parking area at this new studio Location. It seems fitting that as he has now passed the Contemporary Studio name on to me, and is selling the North Court Location that I place this photograph online. It was on the wall in the studio mounted on a wood plaque for many years. Facing the window in full sun and being a color portrait in the mid 70's it had faded a lot and turned red. Seeing I worked at Contemporary Photography Studio since I was 16 (officially any way), and had not seen this portrait in years I thought if was lost for sure. As we cleaned out the building my dad found it and passed it along to me to restore.
Do you have old treasures that need a little Love and attention like this one?
If so I can help! Copy work in a professional studio is very different from at the big "BOX STORES". I Scan or photograph your pictures and then work on them in a photographic restoration program to try to bring back as much of the original photograph as possible. Often they look even better that they did the first time. The these prints are printed at one of the professional labs that I use on professional grade paper to ensure the highest quality and best D-Max factor (Light Density) for the best image possible. A lot different from a scan and a 4 minute ink jet print like you find from other studios and box store store locations. All this at very reasonable prices as well. It is hard to quote without seeing but an average 8X10 is only $29.00..
A note about the D-Max factor I mentioned above. I was recently at a meeting with Kodak. Have you noticed how the pictures you get at the store don't seem to have the same bunch and feel they once did. This is because Kodak and the others have now created many different grades of photographic papers. The Consumer Grade you get at the store will normally be very thin and print kind of flat and even washed out. Blacks will look muddy or even Blue. Ink jet printing has this very same problem as there is very little depth to the print. (trust me I lived that nightmare for 4 years) This is why as I started Robert Gary Photography, and now continue the Contemporary Photography Studio name, I only use the highest grade Professional Papers from Kodak and Fuji Film. These papers still use Silver in the process to not only give them that extra punch, but to help make sure they last for generations to come. No matter how or who you use to restore your old photographs, Make Sure Professional Grade Real Photographic Materials are being used.

Just finished proofing the Senior of the day Josh Oppie. It was a great time working with Josh. He is learning to be an auto mechanic and has earned his Eagle Scout award this past year. Josh will be graduating high school in June, and is planning an Alaskan Adventure for this summer before entering the work force and college. See more of Josh's senior portraits in our recent events at: www.robertgaryphotography.com/

Wow, today I have entered the exciting world of online news letters.
As on my main website, I have to warn you that my profession is Photography not English. So if you run across a few miss spelled words just enjoy the laugh. After all "a Picture is worth a thousand words" right? My English teachers never bought into that one in school but it works for me.
I will be updating this Newsletter on a regular basis. Using it to let you know what is new in our company as well as in Medina County. One of the things my Wife and I enjoy most about Medina, Ohio is the uptown park and events that take place there. So as I learn about events I will post them here for you to be aware of if you like.
I will also do spotlights on clients I work with. I meet some really great people in this business and many have a great story to share. Some are just great folks, so as you stop in and visit I hope to have opportunity to meet new people along the way. My friends tease that I was born about 50 years to late, in that I believe in the Norman Rockwell kind of town were we all know each other and gather for afternoon tea parties. That must be the boy scout in me, but I do feel we all need to know our neighbors a little better and should have as many friends as you can possible have. Really can you ever have enough friends?
